The Perth Cup (Gr 2, 2400m) runner-up, sent out at $12, swept home over the top of favourite Divine Shadow (Blackfriars) to win by a half-length, with Boulder Cup (Listed, 2105m) victor Friar Fox (Blackfriars) threequarters of a length away in third. Behind the placegetters, Group 1 winner Ihtsahymn (Ihtiram) brought his illustrious career to a close, finishing fourth to retire with 12 wins and 14 placings from 64 starts having earned $1,611,445. Also further back was Come Play With Me (Blackfriars) who was last across the line, 12 months on from his biggest career success in The Metropolitan at Randwick.
